The Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument contains many different ecoregions within close proximity to each other.  This high elevation white fir and aspen meadow is one example.

This western juniper on a parched hillside is an indicator of Great Basin influence on the Monument.

Oak woodland and Oak savannah are relatively rare ecosystems. Examples are at lower elevations in the Cascade foothills.
Dry Ponderosa Pine meadows are scattered throughout the Monument at moderate (3,000 - 5,000 feet) elevations.

Mt. Shasta, a Cascade volcano in northern California, can be glimpsed occasionally from the Monument.

Jenny Creek, one of the primary creeks on the Monument, is home to several species of endemic fish and snails.
